Sports participation idea

November 12, 2007

Initial idea for Sports participation projectMy final idea (and I really have to mean final now!) is to create a website that encourages sports participation in young people in the Bournemouth and Poole areas.

With the recent government initiatives to tackle obesity  and get the British population  more active, I thought that a tool which could help encourage children and Teenagers at grassroots level to exercise and participate in sport more, would help a situation that will simply be out of control if not addressed.

My idea would revolve around mixing people’s initiatives with technology and sport, by creating a website where school students can organize their own leagues, teams, fixtures, player profiles, book facilities and referees, whilst also being able to record statistics and design their own kits and formations.

The catch for people wanting to use the service stems from being free and easy to use, whilst also sharing the same addictive qualities that are applied to online fantasy manager leagues (such as http://fantasy.premierleague.com/). So school aged teenagers will want to check who’s scored the most tries, or who has the best run rate in their cricket team. The data captured will be the addictive quality of the site.
